Summer 2017 - QUEST
I love this time of cool breezes, soft sunshine, and rain showers- Spring is in the air! As winter comes to a close, I enthusiastically wave goodbye to its harsh and bitter realities and joyfully accept the coming of all-things summer. This change of season has me thinking a lot about a particular song (which happens to be this summer’s theme song!)

Anytime a heart turns from darkness to light...
God is on the move
In many mighty ways (7eventh Time Down)

God is indeed working mightily as we prepare for the 2017 season. Lots of hands have been diligently preparing the programming, logistics, and facilities that make camp so unique and special. Even more importantly, many hearts have been earnestly seeking God to prepare our grounds to be a welcoming sanctuary where many lives will turn from darkness to light this summer. I join in the song and say, “God is on the move! Hallelujah!”
It is with joy that we can reflect on years past while looking to the future knowing that he has more for us still to do! Ephesians 2:10 says, “For we are God's handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works which he has prepared in advance for us to do.” Individually, yet collectively through being united at Camp, God has given us each a quest. A quest for His truth, a quest for love and for justice, a quest for relationship. Our hope for this summer is that each camper would come to know that they are God’s special handiwork and would have the opportunity to join in God’s ultimate quest. We are truly excited to see what the Lord has prepared for Camp CedarRidge this 2017 camping season as we all quest to serve, love, and know Him more!

Boys Camp Update

Each of us was created for a purpose. Each one of us is striving to become more like Jesus, in what we say, think, and do. Boys camp is a place where boys hone skills new and old, learn about God, appreciate nature, and develop lasting friendships. It is a place where boys become men. I (NEO) am super excited to have the opportunity as first time Boys Camp Director to help guide young men towards the cross, to help them see how to demonstrate Christ in all phases of their life. This summer, boys campers will experience a sensation while following Moses on his quest to become the champion of God’s people. We’ll follow his transformation from a shepherd of sheep to a shepherd of God’s people. Throughout the week, boys will be challenged to find their quest, just like Moses did. To live up to the promise in Ephesians 2:10 “For we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works which he has prepared in advance for us to do.” The only question that remains is: Are you ready?

Girls Camp Update
Hi everyone!

Sander here - I am so excited to be acting as the Girls Camp Director for Summer 2017. Planning for this summer is well underway, ranging from preparing staff training to getting materials for outpost. Camp will be here before we know it! To make Girls Camp even better this year, we have decided to merge the two Girls Camp weeks into one larger week, which will be running July 16th-22nd. The fun theme for this year will take us on a journey to the desert! Titled “On the Wallaby,” I’m sure you can guess where we are headed. Be ready for some crazy adventures, and don’t forget to practice your accent!

If you have any questions or suggestions for Girls Camp 2017, please send me a message at sander@campcedarridge.org. I’d love to talk. See you all in a few months!

We’ve Been Busy this Spring!
Meet HFCC’s newly formed Marketing Team: Sarah “Rosie” Roberts, Michelle “Endro” Ratering and Chelsey “Steller” Dankert. Working together, they are the ones behind the captivating social media posts as well as the emails and newsletters, keeping you up-to-date with all the ‘Camp Happenings’. Here are some highlights of recent events:
In early March, HFCC staffed tables at the Briarwood Mall and Detroit Metro Parent camp fairs. These were opportunities to reach a large number of parents and children and share with them the uniqueness of Camp CedarRidge. We are very excited to see the fruit from these efforts in the coming summers!

With help from the Operations Team, HFCC has revived the Camp Night program! Camp Nights give youth groups a traditional camp experience (games, skit, songfest and message) while parents are given a detailed presentation and a chance to ask staff questions afterwards. Would your church be interested in hosting? Please email rosie@campcedarridge.org or steller@campcedarridge.org for more information!

Please continue to pray with us that through these efforts more hearts will be touched by the love of Christ and that God may be glorified through Camp CedarRidge.

New Camper Trailer
Thanks to generous donations and a small group of dedicated volunteers spending hours searching for just the right one, we are thrilled to announce the purchase of a camper trailer for Maverick and his family to live in this summer. It is a 30’ 2007 Sunset Creek tow behind trailer. Thank you to those who gave towards this fund.
New Board Position Openings
We are blessed to have some of the best and most dedicated board members. This Fall three of our current members, Jessica French, Linda Neal and Chris Clauson, will be finishing their terms and moving off the board. Each one of them has served two, three year terms faithfully. Take a moment to take these ladies for their service to camp. Their impact has made such a difference the past 6 years. I’m sure we will still see them around camp but they have earned a well need rest. Thank you ladies!
As these three finish their terms it brings openings for others to move onto the board starting in November 2017.
We will have three positions open:
Vice President
Treasure
Secretary
