New Name FAQWhy the name change? Our former name was Huron Forest Camp Cherith. Cherith® is a trademark of Pioneer Clubs® and in the past we signed a licensing agreement and paid a fee to use the name but since 2009, we decided not to renew the licensing agreement and, therefore, were no longer authorized to use the name Cherith®.
Why did we not renew the licensing agreement?Because church-based youth programs and camp-based ministries have moved in different directions in the last 20 years, it became necessary to align ourselves with the camp-based ministries.
Did you have doctrinal difference with Pioneer Clubs®?No. We do not have any doctrinal differences.
When did this take place? As of January 1, 2010 our corporate name officially became Huron Forest Camp CedarRidge.
Did the addresses of camp change? No. Both addresses remain the same now as they were before.
What is the Association of Cedarbrook CampsTM?Since 2009, many former Camp Cherith’s have joined together to create a new association with the purpose of strengthening and building on the strong history of our camping ministries.
Has anything else changed? No. Our Mission Statement and core values will remain the same. The programs that have defined our camp and its leadership for 70 years is stay in place. Our goal of reaching children and adults for the Lord Jesus Christ will continue to be our focus.
Will the BUILT and CILT programs change? No. Both programs will use the same materials as before.
Are you still a not-for-profit camp?Yes. We remain a 501(c) 3 not-for-profit corporation. Your tax deductions remain the same. Just make sure the name has been changed when you file your tax return for any contributions made after January 1, 2010!
How will contributions be handled?Your gifts go to the same programs and designations as before. Checks need to be made out to Huron Forest Camp CedarRidge and sent to the metro camp office. If you have designated camp as a beneficiary in any of your documents please update the name. |
