Directions to Camp
Note: Because of zoning reasons if you try to map our given address it will take you to downtown Oscoda. For all mapping and GPS directions use the intersection of River Rd. and Rempert Rd. Also, see below for written directions to camp.
Take 1-75 North. Exit at Standish. As you pass through Standish, move to the right lane because it becomes US-23. (You are an hour from camp).
Take US-23, thru the town of Omer, until the junction of M-65 (at a traffic signal). Turn left (north) onto M-65. You'll drive thru Twining and Whittemore. The last town before camp is Hale (you are 15-20 minutes from camp.) Continue North on M-65 for 11 miles. Watch for the AuSable River Camp (on the left) - a cluster of cottages and small store. Watch for green road sign on the right for the "River Road Scenic Byway" and "Oscoda." (If you cross the AuSable River, you've gone too far).
Turn right onto River Road. Cross Monument Road, passing the Lumbermen’s Monument Visitor's Center on the left. After passing Cooke Dam Road, it is just under a mile to the camp sign - which is on your left. (At night, watch for reflectors mounted on the sign). Turn left onto dirt road at camp sign. Just 100 yds. in, turn right. Continue on......The road to the camp’s gate is 1 1/4 miles long. It is a one lane sandy road owned by the U.S. Forest Service. Be cautious and courteous as you drive. Keep an eye open for wide spots in the road. These are for pulling over to allow another car to pass. Watch for deer and wild turkey, too! Once you drive through the gate, continue to follow the road to the middle of camp, where you will see places to park your car.
Camp CedarRidge is a permit holder of the USDA Forest Service, is an equal opportunity provider and employer, operating in the Huron-Manistee National Forest.
